Create Presentations with AI 2026: The Best Tools in a Hands-On Test

As of July 2026. The best AI presentation tool depends on the use case: Gamma for web decks, Microsoft 365 Copilot for PowerPoint teams, Canva for marketing stacks, Beautiful.ai for investor CI and Presentations.AI for CRM workflows. Tome was discontinued in April 2025. We compare the currently best tools with prices, export formats and a clear recommendation.
Status quo: AI presentations in July 2026
AI presentation tools turn a bullet-point prompt into a complete deck with layout, images and speaker notes in under 90 seconds. Four developments are shaping the segment in 2026:
- Agents instead of single prompts. Gamma introduced the Gamma Agent and Gamma 3.0 in 2026; Microsoft made Agent Mode in PowerPoint generally available (GA) on 22 April 2026; Beautiful.ai launched the 3.0 workflow “Create with AI” in March 2026.
- Anchoring in existing suites. Canva released Canva AI 2.0 in April 2026 (partly as a research preview); Presentations.AI connects Salesforce, HubSpot and Google Sheets via its refresh agent.
- Export without a paywall. Gamma already exports to PDF, PPTX, PNG and Google Slides on the free tier; Slidesgo added document upload (DOCX/PDF/TXT) as a source in 2026.
- Market consolidation. With Tome, one of the earlier market leaders disappeared from the market entirely in April 2025 (details in the FAQ).
How we evaluated
For this comparison we tested every tool against the same criteria: layout quality, image selection, brand fidelity, editing speed, export formats and price per deck. All price and quota figures come from the official provider pricing pages (retrieved July 2026, see sources at the end).
The best AI presentation tools of 2026 in detail
Gamma – market leader for web decks
Gamma remains the reference tool for web-based presentations in 2026: decks are created as a responsive web page but can also be exported as PowerPoint, PDF, PNG or Google Slides – and that is already possible on the free plan. Gamma 3.0 and the Gamma Agent added agentic workflows in 2026; since March 2026 there has also been a ChatGPT app integration as well as connections to Zapier, Make and n8n.
- Strengths: layout quality, web decks, export on the free tier, automation integrations.
- Weaknesses: the free allowance of 400 credits is a one-time grant (no monthly refresh), a maximum of 10 cards per prompt.
- Price (as of July 2026, EUR, annual plan): Free with 400 credits (one-time); Plus €8/month; Pro €18/month (4,000 credits/month, API access); Ultra €77.33/month.
- Recommended for: sales and pitch decks, web publishing, brand stories.
Microsoft 365 Copilot – AI directly in PowerPoint
Anyone who wants to keep PowerPoint as their standard now gets AI creation natively: Agent Mode in PowerPoint has been generally available (GA) since 22 April 2026 and builds a finished deck from a prompt – or from an existing Word document. Copilot is an add-on and requires a qualifying Microsoft 365 base plan.
- Strengths: PowerPoint-native (no tool switching, clean PPTX), Agent Mode, deck from a Word document.
- Weaknesses: only as an add-on to an existing M365 plan, no free tier, enterprise prices plus VAT.
- Price (as of July 2026): Business add-on 21 USD/user/month (annual plan) – a limited-time promotion of 18 USD from 1 July to 30 September 2026; Enterprise 30 USD or €26/user/month plus VAT.
- Recommended for: teams that already work in Microsoft 365 and PowerPoint.
Canva – the all-in-one choice for marketing teams
Canva generates a complete presentation from a prompt, drawing on its huge template and stock library. Canva AI 2.0 arrived in April 2026 (partly still a research preview). Also new is building a presentation directly from CSV or Google Sheets data with 15 chart types. The PPTX export runs through the editor.
- Strengths: template and stock variety, collaborative editing, charts from tables, Canva AI 2.0.
- Weaknesses: AI quotas are capped depending on the plan; premium and ultra AI only in limited amounts.
- Price (as of July 2026, EUR): Free (up to 200 standard AI uses/month); Pro €110/year (2,000 standard, 200 premium, 20 ultra AI/month); Business €170/year.
- Recommended for: marketing teams that already use Canva for social assets.
Beautiful.ai – the design standard for investor decks
Beautiful.ai delivers the best default design on the market: every layout adjusts automatically as soon as you add content. In 2026 the 3.0 workflow “Create with AI” arrived in March, and ROI smart slides expanded the offering in April. There is no permanently free plan – only a 14-day trial that requires a credit card.
- Strengths: automatic design, brand kit, enterprise features, PPTX import and export from Pro.
- Weaknesses: no permanent free tier (14-day trial only with a credit card), higher price.
- Price (as of July 2026, USD, annual plan): Pro 12 USD/month; Team 40 USD/user/month (50 USD monthly).
- Recommended for: investor decks and corporate presentations with strict CI requirements.
Presentations.AI – refresh agent with CRM integration
Presentations.AI is active in 2026 and targets sales teams: the AI assistant Clip-E builds decks, and the presentation refresh agent updates them with data from Salesforce, HubSpot or Google Sheets. Export to PPTX and PDF is, according to the pricing page, included in all plans.
- Strengths: CRM integration (Salesforce/HubSpot/Sheets), Clip-E assistant, PPTX and PDF export in all plans.
- Weaknesses: credits instead of unlimited generation at entry level; prices in US dollars.
- Price (as of July 2026, USD): Starter/Free with 100 credits; Pro 20 USD/month (or 240 USD/year); Gold 100 USD/month.
- Recommended for: CRM-bound sales workflows, regularly updated proposal decks.
Adobe Express – AI decks in the Creative Cloud environment
Adobe Express brings presentation generation into the Adobe world. Adobe itself still rates the feature as “early stages”; on the free plan “generate presentations” is limited to 5 uses over the entire lifetime. Export covers JPEG, PNG, PDF, GIF and PPT – although PPTX is output without video, audio and notes.
- Strengths: graphics and design power, large asset library, broad export range.
- Weaknesses: presentation feature still early; free tier capped at 5 generations (lifetime); PPTX without media and notes.
- Price (as of July 2026, EUR): Free (5 presentation generations lifetime); Premium €11.89/month incl. VAT (250 credits/month).
- Recommended for: Adobe and Creative Cloud users, graphics-heavy decks.
Slidesgo AI – affordable PPTX templates
Slidesgo generates AI presentations and is particularly inexpensive. New in 2026: a document upload (DOCX, PDF or TXT) serves as the source for the deck. The AI output can only be exported as PPTX – ideal when further editing happens in PowerPoint anyway.
- Strengths: very affordable, PPTX export, document upload as source, large template library.
- Weaknesses: AI output only as PPTX; “unlimited” with a fair-use limit; free tier capped at 3 presentations/month.
- Price (as of July 2026, EUR): Free (3 AI presentations/month); Premium €4.99/month (or €29.99/year); “unlimited” with a fair-use cap of 150 presentations/month.
- Recommended for: price-conscious users, editable PPTX decks, education.

FAQ: common questions about AI presentation tools 2026
Which AI tool for presentations is the best in 2026?
There is no single best tool – the choice depends on the use case. For web decks Gamma leads, for PowerPoint teams Microsoft 365 Copilot, for investor CI Beautiful.ai, for marketing stacks Canva and for CRM-bound sales decks Presentations.AI.
What happened to Tome?
Tome was discontinued on 30 April 2025. The presentation service has been shut down, the domain tome.app is no longer reachable and user data was deleted. The team has since been working on other products (Lightfield/CRM). Anyone who used Tome before will find the closest alternatives in Gamma or Beautiful.ai. That is why Tome no longer appears as a recommendation in this comparison.
Can I create AI presentations for free?
Yes. Gamma (400 credits one-time, export included), Canva (up to 200 standard AI uses/month), Slidesgo (3 presentations/month) and Presentations.AI (100 credits) offer free entry points. Note: Beautiful.ai has no permanent free tier, only a 14-day trial with a credit card, and Adobe Express caps presentation generation at 5 uses for life. We provide a broader overview in our article on free AI tools.
Which tool exports cleanly to PowerPoint (PPTX)?
Microsoft 365 Copilot delivers the cleanest result because it works directly in PowerPoint. Gamma exports to PPTX already on the free tier, Beautiful.ai from the Pro plan, Presentations.AI in all plans and Slidesgo exclusively as PPTX. Adobe Express outputs PPTX without video, audio and notes.
What does an AI presentation tool cost?
Entry-level plans in 2026 range roughly between about €5 (Slidesgo Premium) and 21 USD (Microsoft 365 Copilot as an add-on). In between: Gamma Plus €8/month, Adobe Express Premium €11.89/month, Beautiful.ai Pro 12 USD/month and Presentations.AI Pro 20 USD/month. All figures as of July 2026 and without guarantee – the exact plans are on the provider pricing pages.
How do I integrate brand CI into AI decks?
Beautiful.ai, Gamma and Canva offer brand kits with logo, colours and typography. Microsoft 365 Copilot adopts the templates from your PowerPoint template. Presentations.AI keeps the layout consistent via templates. The scope of CI control varies by plan.
Conclusion: three tools are enough for most teams
Anyone seriously producing AI presentations in 2026 gets a long way with a combination of three tools: Gamma for web and sales decks, Microsoft 365 Copilot for everything that has to stay in PowerPoint, and Beautiful.ai for CI-critical investor presentations. That covers the majority of all use cases.
