Compress images without uploading them
Uncompressed photos are the most common reason for slow websites. A phone camera today delivers images of four to twelve megabytes, while on a web page the same picture often needs less than two hundred kilobytes without any visitor noticing a difference. This tool resizes and re-encodes your images directly on your device. There is no upload and no queue.
Two settings that make almost all the difference
The dimensions
The biggest lever is the pixel width. An image displayed 800 pixels wide on the page does not need to be delivered at 4000 pixels wide. As a rule of thumb, 1920 pixels are enough for a full-width image, 1200 pixels for content images and 800 pixels for previews. Images that are already smaller than the chosen limit are left untouched; nothing is ever upscaled here, because that only creates file size, not image information.
The quality level
When saving, JPEG and WebP deliberately discard image information that the eye barely perceives. At 80 percent the difference from the original is usually invisible, yet the file is considerably smaller. Below 60 percent, edges and surfaces become visibly noisy. Feel free to try two levels and compare the result; the saving is shown right next to each image.
WebP or JPEG?
At the same visible quality, WebP usually produces files 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPEG and is displayed by all current browsers. For your own website it is therefore the better choice. JPEG remains useful when the file goes to a system that only accepts classic formats: some portals, print shops or older inventory systems. Important: JPEG has no transparency. A PNG with a transparent background gets a white background when converted to JPEG; the tool warns you beforehand.
Why fast images matter for visibility
Loading time is a confirmed ranking factor, and the largest single item on a typical page is the images. Among other things, Google measures how long the largest visible element takes to appear, and on most pages that is exactly the main image. Going from three megabytes to two hundred kilobytes there noticeably shortens this time. The effect is most pronounced on mobile devices with a cellular connection, which is where most traffic comes from today.
Privacy: your images stay with you
Processing takes place entirely in your browser. There is no endpoint to which images could be sent, which you can verify via the network panel of the developer tools (F12 key): not a single request with image data leaves your device while compressing.

How do I compress images for free?

Are my images uploaded to a server?

Are my images upscaled when resizing?
No. If an image is already narrower than the set maximum width, it remains unchanged. Upscaling would only increase the file size without adding a single pixel of information.
How many images can I process at once?
Up to 60 images in one run. The limit protects your own device, because the computation runs locally and very large photos use a lot of memory. Progress is displayed; with very many or very large images it can take a moment on older devices.
